[The Piemaker has been feeling unusually brave lately. Maybe it's a combination of little things, or one big thing. He can't point to why he's feeling like he has a spine again. But he'll take advantage of it, while he has it]

I'd like to remind the wardens of this Barge of the many..many times I've brought some of you back to life. And how that life can be taken away just as easily as it's given.

Hurting the interlopers is pointless.

[He lets the implied threat hang in the air for a second or two longer, before signing off]

We're at port. We're at port on a dying or dead ship and maybe it's time we came to a decision.

I think we should run. Get off the ship, find somewhere to hole up for the time being and come up with a plan.

If we stay on this ship, we could die. For good. And I am never...ever graduating.

Look, I got an easier way to prove it.

[Stark grabs the collar of his shirt and pulls it down. There's only scarred skin. No armor. No amount of magic can hide Lucifer's armor. Which means Stark is absolutely not Lucifer.]

[The Piemaker lets out the massive breath he'd been holding. His shoulders shake as he slowly breathes out the massive sob that had built up. It's not him. He's safe]

Okay. I believe you.

[Stark fixes his shirt collar.]

Okay.

[He's not nearly as relieved as Ned is, but he's glad he doesn't have to jump through hoops to prove this one.]

Now, got a better plan than running and hiding out until we get a better plan?

Not especially. This is the first window I've seen where escape was even minimally possible.

There's not much stopping the Barge from yanking everyone back up though Ned once it's up and running again. And just because it's busted all to hell doesn't mean it's down and out for the count.

I don't trust it that much.

[Stark is nowhere near as powerful as he could be as Lucifer. If Vin would just have given him the goddamn Key back...]

I don't...mean to offend, but I've been surviving you...other you...for a long time.

I'm pretty adaptable when it comes to watching my back. And if we have to run there might not be time to give you a heads-up.

But not knowing who's affected and who isn't is making it a struggle to determine who's really on my side.

I think assuming they aren't until they prove otherwise isn't a bad policy to adopt in a situation like this. In the end, you gotta rely on yourself.

[Referring to de Carabas and Dean, of course, and their suicidal mission to take on Lucifer.]

[The Piemaker's face grows grave and solemn; that had been the last time he'd seen the marquis, dying in order to rescue his dog]

If this doesn't work, I don't know what else there is for me and Dean.

[Stark is silent for a long moment. He does wish he had some good news to give to Ned. This Ned. But he doesn't. And he's good at bullshitting, but not about something like this. Honesty's better. In some fucked up kind of way that's hard to see or justify right away, anyway.]
