Happy Pi(e) Day. The day for both food and math enthusiasts to come together in a spirit of unity and baked goods.

Usually I offer a free pie to the person who can recite the most digits of pi but by the looks of some of the people here....that would probably not be a good idea. Only because we would run out of time and the pie would get cold waiting.


There is a definite out-of-whack ratio of supergeniuses here.

It's an endless number with digits leading up to infinity with no distinguishable pattern.

I can manage twenty-five. Twenty-six if you include the decimal.

Which is something I'm not sure I feel comfortable discussing at this...present...time. This is a conversation about pie. not sex. Unless the pie is as good as sex. Some pies are.

But in the meantime there's no point in calling attention to it when you veer off topic to discuss it.

Well, technically for me every day is Pie Day because....I'm a piemaker.

But today is the official day to honor it.

I have perfect memory and know Pi past the 100,000th place. It'd also take, uh... a very long while to recite.

Like a day.

So, yeah. No pie for pi.

Any practical use of that knowledge disappears somewhere around the 600th digit.

There isn't anything so precise that you need to divide up to the 90,000th decimal point. You're not even splitting atoms anymore. You're splitting the atoms of atoms of a circle.

What smart woman insists on the full 100,000 digit set but refuses to entertain the idea of anyone knowing anything less than 60,000?

It just seems like such an arbitrary use of your time.

And besides. Girls - the girls I know of - like to know your opinion on facts. Not raw facts themselves. They have the internet for raw, random factoids.

No. Though you won't like blueberry much if you ever see me bleed. I'm told my vital fluids, high in cobalt, are a similar color to the syrup that forms in blueberry cobbler and pies.

My tolerance for blood and gore is pretty high. That wouldn't upset me. Should it? Not that you bleeding wouldn't be upsetting. Just not in the upset stomach sense of the idea.

And I tend not to eat my own pies.

The digits of pi, the mathematical figure that makes it possible to calcuate what's inside and around a circle. Which is a homonym for pie, the food. Which is coincidentally also shaped like a circle.

A delicious circle.
