003 - Chocolate [Video]

[The Piemaker is in the Barge kitchen, finishing up the last works of the day. On the countertop are two small pies for two graduated inmates, to be picked up or delivered when most convenient.

They're addressed to Megamind and Riddick, with Congratulations written on top. While the Piemaker was never a man to celebrate change, he could appreciate and reward it in others.

There's a third confection that's bothering him. It's the cake-pie. The cake-within-a-pie. The abomination and unholy mash-up of good and evil.

The Piemaker prods it with a spoon]

I'm not sure how safe this is to eat. I know I made it but it's. It looks..untrustworthy.

[The Piemaker smiled at the supergenius' inclination towards his pets, and thought wistfully of his own dog, Digby, who he could not touch]

I'm really good at it. [ He says. ] ...and honestly they wouldn't let me do much else. Nobody takes a poet-villain seriously, or and I was never big enough to be a beating bruiser-villain.

[ Though he may, in fact, have some notebooks filled with poetry that he is totally ashamed of somewhere. ]

Poet. Music-- well, I managed to work music into things, but I never get to play or write any, and honestly who has spare time? [ Megamind doesn't. ]

You're a musician?

Well, a bit. I play a few things. [ And there's a breach persona who has every classical work ever played on a piano ever memorized but the less said about Subject Gamma the better. ]

What do you play.

[megamind]

Guitar; lead, rhythm, bass as needed, all passably well. Drums, but I'm not really into them. Piano-- I'm probably concert level there. Violin, fairly poorly, just need practice, really. I also like to work with electronic music for background, and could probably hit the electronica set if I wanted to, but it's not really my thing, you know?

[ He told Chris he had to be a renaissance man, once, to be the best at crime. ]

[ Mostly because he tried his best to be one himself. ]

[The Piemaker did not, in fact, play any instrument whatsoever, but he could be in quiet awe of those who did. He nodded along with each listed musical talent, a little stunned]

That's...quite an accordion file of a repertoire.

It's all hobby work, really. Except the piano. That's-- uhm. Breach.

You've never been here in a breach, have you?

Not yet. And I'm not so sure I want to be in one, but a gut instinct tells me it's unavoidable.

It is. And it's -- not really any fun. The piano, uh, well, let's just say the breach improved my skills in the last one. The rest was... less than fun, though.

Sudden acquired piano skills don't sound so terrible. Unless you have extremely sensitive fingers.

Well, I do but not like that. [ But the less said about being Subject Gamma the better. It just brought up all sorts of uncomfortable memories. ] It's a complicated thing.

Anyway, I'll uh-- take my pie. And go back to my room.

[ Because pie privacy, and-- generally need some post-personal-anguish time is needed still. ]
